Sarah’s Update on Her ORU Trip
April 15, 2008 by MHM Around The World
I just had the unbelievable privilege of speaking at the Oral Roberts University chapel. For me this was probably one of the greatest highlights of the year. I’ve dreamed of speaking in chapel for more than 10 years. This was an amazing honor! One of the reasons this is so meaningful to me is that I’m an alumni of ORU.
ORU, which opened its doors in 1965, is located in Tulsa, OK, and has an enrollment of 3,082. This was a great opportunity for me to “give back” to the students and college.
I shared about the importance of keeping our eyes on Jesus, based on Hebrews 12:2 and the importance of “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…” Let’s ALL keep our eyes on Jesus!
Just to say thank you, Sarah, for speaking so beautifully and so effectively at the ORU chapel last week.
I was watching chapel on television, and as the camera focused from time to time on one or more of the students, I could see in their faces that you had their attention and that you were really connecting with them.
Your story of riding the mountain bike down the mountain was fun and exciting, and made your point so well. Thank you especially for reminding us that in spite of all the curves and distractions life throws at us, by keeping our eyes on Jesus, we can stick to the purposes to which God has called us.
It’s wonderful seeing an ORU alum like you making a difference around the world for Jesus. God bless you!
